The Bronx Girls Skate x Nike SB Dunk - Release Info

The Nike SB Dunk Low "Bronx Girls Skate" is a deeply intentional collaboration that honors the grassroots collective founded by Mel Ramirez and Kava Vasquez. This sneaker serves as a tribute to the Bronx skateboarding community. The design is anchored by a black leather upper featuring a unique stingray-like texture, contrasted by a clean white leather Swoosh. This "Uptown" aesthetic is elevated by vibrant, multi-colored piping that frames the panels—red, orange, and green accents that directly reference the NYC subway lines (the 1/2, B/D, and 4/5/6) that run through the Bronx, symbolizing the literal and cultural threads that connect the community.

Beyond its striking exterior, the shoe is packed with hidden details that celebrate New York City heritage and the collective's inclusive mission. Notable features include a gold "NY" charm hanging from the heel, styled after vintage subway tokens, and gold lace locks that resembles "door-knocker" earrings. The semi-translucent outsoles reveal custom artwork with the inscription "The Bronx, The World," emphasizing the global reach of the community's influence. On the inside, the sockliner features a poetic message of solidarity penned by the founders: "I Am Because We Are," written in both English and Spanish, solidifying the sneaker as a symbol of empowerment rather than just a lifestyle piece.
