New Balance Numeric x Focus 480: Scottish Heritage, Remixed

Edinburgh’s Focus Skate Store marks 25 years with its first New Balance Numeric collaboration: the 480 “Focus Skateshop.” The design brings Scottish identity to a basketball silhouette rebuilt for skateboarding, pairing blue suede and white pebbled leather with details that reward a closer look.

A Scottish Story in Blue and White

The palette takes its cue from the Saltire, Scotland’s blue-and-white flag. A unicorn on the tongue pays tribute to Scotland’s national animal, while the heel pulls read “Focus” and “Alba”—Scottish Gaelic for Scotland. An orange accent on the FuelCell midsole nods to the country’s famously bright “other national drink.”

For Focus, the collaboration celebrates a quarter century of supporting the Edinburgh skate community. Co-founder Sibs Roberts describes the project in the press release as a fitting way to mark the shop’s 25th anniversary.

The 480’s court roots date to 1983. This Numeric edition brings that heritage onto the board with a high-rebound FuelCell midsole, an Ndurance rubber outsole, a reinforced toe and a stable heel counter.
